  1.  Take responsibility for your life.  By being active rather than passive you take the power from others and give it to yourself.
  2. Be flexible.  Change what you can and learn to adjust to what you can’t.
  3. Accept reality as a good mixture of good and bad.  Accept the reality of unfairness and that things aren’t always as you like.
  4. Savor the moment.  Seek out fun and change.
  5. Learn to live with frustration.  It’s a learning experience that’s part of life.
  6. Express your positive and negative feelings.  Always be open and assertive about your emotions.
  7. Work toward goals.  Have both short and long term goals in life.  They give direction and meaning.
  8. Think creatively.  Work out your solutions; don’t just accept what you’re told.
  9. Manage your time to create balance.  Learn to balance work and leisure, family and friends, being serious and having fun.
  10. Develop hobbies and interests.  Experiment until you find one that is absorbing and fulfilling.
  11. Develop relationships.  Value friendships and show commitment.
  12. Accept and care for yourself.  Like yourself.  Focus on the positive aspects of your personality.
