Signtronix – Don’t Advertise

Published by at 3:12 pm under Signtronix

Georgia Bulldawg DM Craig Jarrett has written a guideline of reasons customers use for not needing a sign or in other words to “kill their business”.  Craig said, “Hopefully this will help everyone close more sales when you have a customer who uses one of them.  I have worked on these over the last few months and since keeping this list handy in my brochure book I do not hear them near as often.  Hope everyone has a wonderful year.”

  • Don’t advertise!  Just pretend everybody knows what you have to offer.
  • Don’t advertise!  Tell yourself you just don’t have time to spend thinking about promoting your business.
  • Don’t advertise!  Convince yourself that you’ve been in business so long customers will automatically come to you.
  • Don’t advertise! Just assume everybody knows what you sell.
  • Don’t advertise!  Forget there are new, potential customers who would do business with you if they were reminded and urged to do so.
  • Don’t advertise!  Forget you have competition trying to attract your customers away from you.
  • Don’t advertise!  Tell yourself that it costs too much and you don’t get enough out of it.
  • Don’t advertise!  Overlook the fact that advertising is an investment in selling, not an expense!
  • Don’t advertise!  Be sure not to provide an adequate advertising budget for your business.
  • Don’t advertise!  Forget that you have to keep reminding your established customers that you appreciate their business.

“It is wise to direct your anger towards problems – not people;to focus your energies on answers – not excuses.”  ~William Ward
