Signtronix – In Memory of Louis Boren 1914-2011 – Part 1

The great Louis Boren, brother of Kozell and Vernie Boren, was an integral part of Signtronix history. His inventive and genius mind gave way for much of the machinery and evolution of processes we still use today. Without question, he is one of the men responsible for the rise of Gulf/Signtronix to its present position of distinction in the Sign Industry. He worked in Research and Development for many, many years and was the architect of our first vacuum forming machine.

The quiet and humble Louis had a profound effect on everyone he knew, especially his brother Vernie Boren. “He was a rare individual. In all of my life, I’ve never heard Louis say anything bad about anyone, an extremely rare quality in this world.”

Louis was a genuine and loving father and husband. He married a beautiful woman named Elma and they had five children, four boys, Leon, Edward, Jimmy, and Billy and one daughter, Julie. They raised their family in South Dakota until 1969 when they came to Los Angeles at the invitation of Kozell Boren, then President of Gulf Development.
